Project Summary
A long time brewing company decided to increase its investment in its Cartersville, Georgia Brewery and expand operations. The expansion will support new brewing capabilities, the creation of a new can line, and will generate new efficiencies in the brewing process. The Cartersville brewery brews more than 20 beer brands and is the original producer of emergency drinking water for the company’s disaster relief program. Cartersville was also the first brewery to be certified organic by the USDA in order to brew and package Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold.
Robinson was contracted by Briggs of Burton, a global hygienic process engineering company, to serve as the design-build contractor on the project. Robinson’s scope included large mat foundations for a new process support building and tank farm. The tank farm foundation alone involved a pour of over 1000 cu yd and will support 12 stainless tanks over 70 ft in height. Additional items in Robinson’s scope included installation of several monorail systems with hoist installations for future equipment access, slab demo/excavation for underground stainless drain piping, installation of underground stainless steel process drain systems in six different buildings, roof demo and replacements, erection of structural steel for the process building expansion, IMP panel system erection at several locations, addition of a new cold storage and MCC room, installation of several overhead doors and freezer doors, installation of multiple HVAC equipment items and ductwork, installation of fire sprinkler systems in two different areas, and installation of urethane flooring systems. Sitework included installation of several large precast manholes and storm water quality structures, installation of an HDPE underground storm sewer system, final grading, and asphalt pavement installation.
